Select Classic Metal was the fourth release in 1996 and was branded as a high end set. Also known as the Centenary Series, the cards had an attractive metal appearance which was novel for footy cards in that era. But the RRP of $6.95 per pack  took collectors by surprise and sales were slow. As a response, Select produced oversized case cards – a jumbo version of the Future Hall of Fame cards. These were given to dealers as incentives when they purchased cases of the release. Ironically, these cards did not have the metal appearance.  The prized card of the release was a Ted Whitten Commemorative holofoil card, paying tribute to the late great EJ, and found only once in every 24 boxes.
